Welcome to Below Rain

Hi. My name is Daniil Iakovlev and this is a web site created by yours truly to introduce myself to the internet community. I am a student at the Aalto University School of Science and Technology, currently living in Finland. This page contains (or well, will contain, since it's currently under development) my thoughts and many projects, some more creative than others. Currently these include web design, photography, musical projects, silver jewelery and an upcoming web comic. If you wish to contact me check the box to the left for a way to do so :)

Wake up, slow down

Why are people so afraid of the rain? I'm sitting outside in the center of Helsinki city and all I see are people running around so scared of getting a few drops of water on themselves. As if they were made of sugar and would dissolve on contact (mind you, it's not pouring here, all I've got on me is a sweater and a pair of jeans, nothing waterproof).

It's Saturday, what's the rush for everyone? Wake up, feel the rain wash over you! The feeling is amazing, purifying even in the middle of a city.

I stand up, walk around, feel the raindrops as they fall on my hair and flow down my skin. I make myself aware of the light breeze that comes with this weather, the movement of air and water on my face. It's strange, the fact that I have to make myself aware of such simple things. I wonder, do these people rushing around feel it, or do they just feel anxious to get back inside?
